Here is a quick tutorial on how to create an RSS Feed for YouTube as of 2016. Seems that since Google decided to do away with their feed reader they decided that RSS feeds for the stuff they own aren’t necessary, but we marketers know differently right?

So here’s how to create an RSS feed from any YouTube channel.

how to create an RSS feed for youtube 2016In this video I walk you through how to create an RSS Feed for YouTube. As usual, I run into technical challenges, so you get to see that perseverance is the first step in conquering those little mountains we all run into daily.

How To Create An RSS Feed For YouTube

These are the basic URLs that you will need to work from:

  • https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?user=YOURCHANNELNAME
  • https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?playlist_id=YOUR_YOUTUBE_PLAYLIST_NUMBER

I used the first URL when creating the feed for this video. As you could tell from the video I got confused. Rather than starting over, I wanted you to see that sometimes it is better to simply keep moving forward. After making the video I did go and research why I was having trouble with getting the feed to validate and resolve in Chrome.

Seems that after Google did away with their feed reader they thought that, well, no one must need those tools any longer. WRONG! I use RSS feeds all the time. They are a great way to get content on sites that you may or may not spend a lot of time on personally.  You can also use this technique to create RSS feeds for other YouTube channels that feature content that your audience needs.

Using IFTTT.com you can post videos directly to your Facebook page, Blogger Blog, Tumblr, Delicious, etc.

Here are a couple places you can submit your RSS feeds to as a method of syndication:

  • http://www.scrapebox.com/rss-submit

At the moment Bulkpinger.com is not working. I think it is because they depend on the Feed validator to “like” the feed first.

A while back I did a post about RSS feeds that was very detailed you can read it here about using RSS feed for marketing.  The way old way of creating RSS feeds for YouTube is also in there. That way no longer works, just so you know.
